Golf Tip-
READING GREENS-
Here is the basic process I use and teach for reading greens. The first thing you need to know is if your putt is flat, uphill, or downhill. The best place to view to see this is to go to the midpoint of your putt on the low side. I also recommend trying to quantify (ie. This putt seems to be about a foot uphill) the amount. After you figure that, next ask yourself “If I roll this ball straight at the hole, what happens?” Does it go in? Miss left/right? How much do you think it misses left/right? To the best of your ability, try and determine the amount the ball will miss (in the example shown, if you roll a ball straight at the hole we felt it would miss about a foot right). Once you’ve got that info, you can bring that “miss point” to the other side of the hole and now it is your new “target”! All you now need to try and do is roll the ball straight to your new target and let gravity so the rest.
Let me again reiterate that this is a BASIC explanation of the system I use/teach and it has HUGE success with our juniors and my clients. I couldn’t believe how well the juniors in our kids camps were able to read greens at the end. It was fantastic to see.
In this coming season be on the lookout for my Friday Clinics to return and rest assured that a green reading class or two will be in there!
